Family-to-Family Education Course

The Spring Family-to-Family Course has been suspended due to the coronavirus.  It will resume when the threat of this virus is behind us.

The NAMI Family-to-Family is a class for families, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental health conditions, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members.

The course runs for 12 weeks on Monday nights from 7:00-9:30 PM.  Seating is limited and registration is required.  To register call 732-4NAMI-4U or email your contact information to nami.greater.monmouth@gmail.com.

For more information about the course, click here.  Read below for what some of the participants had to say about the course.

"I have become empathetic to my daughter; we now have a better relationship."

"The discussion concerning reflective listening was exceptional. Understanding the needs of someone in psychiatric distress and just what they are trying to say is so important to enhance the relationship between caregivers and the ill."

"I have increased my appreciation of the problems and ways to tackle them."

"I experienced an AHA! moment weekly. The timing of the class was perfect. We needed everything we learned."

"Teachers were experienced, well-trained, and extremely helpful."

"I am working on being more compassionate and empathetic. We are learning to accept our daughter’s disease and see the individual for herself, not the disease."
